Notes

• Same region as yesterday's photo, but this time on the other side of the Dead Sea,in the Old City of Jerusalem. (I know it's not technically a desert picture, but it's in a desert region, and as I look at the old desert pictures, I am rediscovering all kinds of other photos from those trips that I hadn't considered in a long time...) This is from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, at the tomb of Christ. I stayed in the Old City for a week and spent endless hours just wandering the narrow, winding streets... and made my way to the fabled church more than a few times. This was from a late afternoon visit. The area around the tomb was relatively quiet and when I looked up, I saw this single beam of light coming in one of the windows. It is perhaps a bit cliché, and I know I have since seen at least one other photo with a similar look taken under the dome, but I have always been partial to this picture.
