Another take on the suitcases from a few days ago. As any photographer knows, sometimes the hardest part of the "art" is not in taking the original image, but selecting the right image from multiple shots of the same subject and then choosing how to best present it (cropping, processing, etc). In this case, I shot about 15 frames of these antique suitcases, from different angles, framed differently. While I think I am somewhat partial to the first take on this, I like the over-all old feeling of this one. (There is a third take that I also like, but I think it's going to stay stashed away--unless I hit a really rough patch and feel what this blog is missing is really one more picture of some old suitcases. You just never know.)

Nicely composed and great tones. After comparing the 2 shots, I find that I prefer 1st one. For me it's the warmth of the picture and seeing the textures up close. Sean @ July 13, 2008
Cool .. works so well in b&w Klaus @ July 13, 2008
Very nice shot here with lovely tones and light, though I prefer the 1st one. :) Alejandra @ July 13, 2008
Amazing. So many stories this suitcases could tell. They look like they traveld a lot. I prefer this photo over the other. It's very good. João André Farinha @ July 13, 2008
Love how you've processed this..giving it a sense of timelessness. Marcie @ July 13, 2008
Remnants from a well traveled past, no doubt. I hope their owners are in better shape. Nice light and texture. I also feel a bit of sadness for them...they've been left behind. Jim @ July 13, 2008
Very good idea!! perfect composition!! I like tones and processing too! martineb @ July 13, 2008
while they are obviously inherently different in terms of style/composition i gotta say i like this one better. i like the grain. dennis @ July 14, 2008
You've been busy... I am catching up...
I like it but I like the other one better. Those suitcases seem a bit lost there. I might like the crop of the thumbnail better. Just my own interpretation... :-) sophie @ July 16, 2008
this is such a great image, i dont even want to think of why, its just pure eye candy tomms @ July 23, 2008
