There is a path through the woods not far from where we live that I sometimes walk with the dog, part of which skirts along a natural rock wall. And every time, I am captured by this single tree, or what is left of it after they cut down all the large ones a year or two ago. I've been trying to capture the scene for a while and never quite seem to do it justice. I can't explain why I like this particular tree against the rocks so much. I am still not convinced there is a great shot in the scene. But I still like it.

I cannot quite put my finger on what I like so much about this image, but it doesn't really matter why, I just do. There is a lot of appeal here. Laurie @ January 17, 2009
I like the way the cracks on the wall and the tree branches seem to flow in the same direction, and form the same pattern. João André Farinha @ January 18, 2009
I like it for the textures. They're marvelous. Jarrard @ January 19, 2009
Jarrard said it...very textural! The composition is well balanced between the trunk and the cracks, and leaving a measure of saturation in the scene allow for each of those textures to remain unique. Jon Whittle @ January 20, 2009
