A different desert today, this time from the western edge of the Sahara near Merzouga, Morocco. It's a tiny village within sight of the Algerian border that looks out on the immense sand dunes that start the sandy desert stretching across to the western part of Egypt. (And I'll have at least one picture from that area in the next few days.) This was taken just after a rare rainfall, giving the dunes the varying darker colours on the slopes.

Gorgeous colors here. Beautiful. Laurie @ November 18, 2008
The color of the sand is amazing and really contrasts well with the sky. Great composition here too...the line of the top of the dune really does a great job of leading your eye through the frame. desolate | metropoilis @ November 27, 2008
